The bottom line: Loved their brunch enough to come back for more!

I recently went to Bistro La Bon for brunch. It was Saturday morning and it was already past noon so the restaurant was nearing the end of their peak time. The first thing I noticed before walking in was their small patio that I imagine would make a pretty romantic setting at night, even though it’s not far from the street. Upon walking in there are several comfy looking lounge areas that I could just imagine being lit by candlelight. It was the middle of the day and the sun was shining so I will have to observe that at a later visit.

The restaurant is spacious and tastefully decorated with a combination of wooden tables and booths. Large windows look out to Central Ave. My party sat at a table in the middle of the dining area. While I quietly perused the menu one of the members of my party ordered the pastry plate and everyone ordered mimosas. The pastry plate was a combination of small tarts (key lime and berries), coconut macaroons, and mini muffins topped with whipped cream. It was just enough to keep everyone entertained while we ordered and to indulge without the guilt.

I ended up ordering the bistro signature omelette. This dish is composed of a fluffy omelette serving as bedding for apricot jam and cream cheese. It was also served with hash browns. I love the sweet and salty combo although I usually prefer veggies in my omelette. I took a chance on this one.  Overall I liked it. The lightness of the egg, combined with the smoothness of cream cheese, and the sweetness of the apricot made for the perfect brunch combination. I do have to say that the apricot jam had a bit of an aftertaste for me. I usually find that to be the case for this type of jam. The hash browns were a savory combination that had me wishing for more. This same remark was made by the person sitting next to me.

I know that those around me enjoyed their meal as well. I feel like I have barely scratched the surface with Bistro La Bon. Next time I would love to visit for dinner and observe their nighttime atmosphere.
