Bottom line: The number of flavors to try will give you a reason to come back again and again!

We have finally found it. Paletas in Charlotte! If you have read our previous post about our paletas, or ice pops, find in Nashville then you know how excited we are to discover that we have found paletas in our own backyard.

King of Pops is an ice cart started by three brothers in the Atlanta area. They quickly gained popularity in the area and can now be found in Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. They have hundreds of flavors ranging from fruity to milk based flavors. Some flavors are seasonal but others are available year round. Variations on chocolate, banana pudding, and coffee are some of the flavors you can expect to find all year long.

I had the Mexican chocolate flavored ice pop. The ingredients in this pop were chocolate, cinnamon and cayenne pepper. It sounds like an odd mix but it’s truly a delicious combination. It’s not spicy at all but the cinnamon and cayenne pepper mixed with the sweetness of the chocolate give it a slight kick. My friend had the salted chocolate pop and she commented that it was delicious as well. I didn’t have time to beg for some of her pop since mine was quickly melting. I can tell you that it was gone before I knew it! At $2.50 a pop, this make for a really inexpensive flavorful treat and a way to satisfy an ice cream craving minus all the calories. Well, if you limit it to one pop. I was tempted to go for a second!

They can be found in various locations in the QC as well as their Charlotte HQ in the NoDa area. Check out their website to find out where you can find them!
