Ana Says…

The bottom line: It’s all about the fries!

The Roaming Fork is a one of Charlotte’s gourmet food trucks. There seems to be a food truck renaissance across the country. A walk around uptown Charlotte or a drive on a Friday evening around neighborhoods like the South End and Plaza Midwood will quickly confirm the large variety of food truck options. I have tried the food served at several of these trucks and the Roaming Fork is one of the most memorable ones for me. Their menu is small but the items that I tried were delicious. They serve a variety of sandwiches, tacos, and sides that I would say are in the comfort food category. Better to skip the sides if you watching the waistline!

I had the Korean BBQ Sub with the Parmesan Herb French Fries as a side. Holy guacamole the fries! Don’t get me wrong the sandwich was great but allow me to rave about the fries for a bit. They were perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of herbs and parmesan cheese. They were perfectly crispy and perfectly seasoned. Perfect, just perfect. Or as close as it gets anyway. Let me stop right here and tell you to go find the truck for yourself and try the fries.

Are you back? Well shame on you for not rushing off to try those fries!

The Korean BBQ Sub was very good as well. It was very fresh and loaded with just the right amount of veggies. The meat was a thin cut rib eye with pickled veggies. The meat was soft and tender although for a Korean BBQ dish I wish it had been a little bit spicier. The sub was served with a wasabi aioli and lots of cilantro which added just the right touch. My only complaint was the sandwich was a bit cold by the time I got to eat it. It may be no fault of the food truck though. It was a cold night and that is just the nature of eating outside.

I will definitely look forward to hunting down that truck again in the future!
