The bottom line: Wine getaway

Dolce Vita Wines, also known as just simply Dolce Vita, is a definite visit anytime I find myself in NoDa. The thing is that the name simply says it all. Dolce Vita means “Sweet Life” in Italian, and what place with a name like that would not make you want to visit it?

I discovered it during one of those summer nights where I just happened to be strolling through  NoDa with friends. The warm colors of its decor and cool aspect intrigued me to the point where I just had to go in. Plus at any point it is a given that if a place has an Italian name I will more than likely be willing to check it out. Can you blame me? I miss Italy a lot!

Dolce Vita is like any wine bar where you will find selection of wines from different regions of the world such as Italy, Argentina, France, Chile, Spain, etc. Their drink selection also includes beer and your standard cocktails. Besides drinks you also have a limited offering of food such as pizza, cheese platters, sandwiches, and a couple of other things. I must admit that I have not have had much of their food. The last thing I ate was their baked brie with pita chips. I just munched on a couple of pieces and for the most part would say it is good.

However, where Dolce Vita excels is in the environment it provides. I love the relaxed atmosphere of the place. I have been a victim of finding myself there with friends for hours on end. It is one of those places where you can sit and let the conversation keep on going over a glass of wine, or many…, to the point where you lose track of time. I won’t tell you that they have the most extensive wine offering as there are many other places in Charlotte that do. Yet, if what you are looking for is to bask in a stress free atmosphere with friends, a date, or even by yourself, then this is the place to go. The service is good and although sometimes it gets busy you will encounter that everyone mainly is just there to enjoy time with the company they are with. Also, unlike many other bars, the music often does not get extremely loud to the point were you can’t hear each other. On some nights they do have a DJ or live music and that is a nice change up to the usual quieter days.

Overall, what can I say? I love this place because I’m a sucker for lounging with a glass of wine and long conversations with people. And if you just so happen to like this too, then maybe Dolce Vita needs to be on your itinerary next time you are in NoDa!
